BMW M5

After the new 5 Series, the new M5. Leveraging the announcement of the renewal of the 5 Series, BMW released the first details of the new M5, which besides aesthetics magazine also gains a significant enhancement: an optional 'Competition Package', which allows debit 15hp more power. This add-on will also be available for "brother" M6, in all its derivations, Coupe, Cabrio and Gran Coupé.

On the outside, the changes are little more than discrete. The front grille, for example, presents a new design, especially the double frieze containing version of the logo placed in the top right. The 20-inch wheels and exhaust system with four chrome black outputs are standard in the package Competition.

In mechanical terms, little has changed. The engine remains the 4.4-liter V8 biturbo with 560 hp, mated to a gearbox double-clutch seven relations. The big news involves the introduction of a new optional package that increases power to 575cv, with the M5 just now getting the 10hp Class E63 AMG Mercedes S.

The inclusion of this option is natural reflected in the performances. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h shall be accomplished in 4.2 seconds (minus 0.1 s), while the 0-200 km / h 12.8 s now requires less 0.2 s.

The Competition Package includes sports chassis refinements, including a new calibration of shock absorbers and springs, hardening of the stabilizer bars, suspension lowered by 10 mm, and the pitch only for the active M differential, and a more direct steering.

The new M5 will reach the market in Portuguese next September. Prices were not disclosed.
